Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Release Sixth Studio Album

Red Jumpsuit Apparatus has received five Platinum certifications, garnered over 4.7 million monthly listens on Spotify alone, and has topped charts with their post-hardcore/alternative rock hits. However, to many, they are more than just a band, and rather a voice of comfort, empowerment, and activism through music.

Perfection

On October 3, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus released their sixth studio album, X’s For Eyes, along with their latest single, “Perfection”.

“Perfection” driving guitars and, in true Red Jumpsuit Apparatus fashion, a big, powerful melody. It comes paired with a visualizer, which pictures a drawing of a white flower with one red leaf.

Founding member, lead vocalist, and guitarist, Ronnie Winter, states that it is “a song about perfect imperfections, about embracing one’s flaws and the true beauty that lies within. It’s a song about individuality, self-acceptance, and the idea that our scars and imperfections make us who we are. Through the lens of perfectly imperfect, what some might consider to be mistakes, flaws, and shortcomings suddenly become good, beautiful, even desirable. It’s a reminder,” he adds, “that being perfectly imperfect is something not to hide but to celebrate.”

X’s for Eyes

The album is the first the band has released with Better Noise Music, and follows the release of singles “Home Improvement”, “Slipping Through (No Kings)”, and “X’s for Eyes”. Cameos from Sleeping With SirensKellin Quinn on “Always The King” and Escape The Fate’s Craig Mabbitt on “Worth It” help to complete the 11-track album.

“I think that anybody who’s been with us the whole time realizes that we’ve been an activist band since 2006,” Winter says. “So when I see X’s for eyes, it reminds me of the childhood cartoons, the video games—all those things where this is what happens when you don’t do the right thing. You see that character that you know and love, but for three seconds with a bunch of swirling birds over their head and they’ve got X’s for eyes because they made a mistake. They trusted the wrong person, they went in the wrong direction, they chose the wrong path and then POW! Something crazy happens and there’s X’s for eyes, or ‘RIP.’ And I just find that has a parallel reality to now.” 

“In 2006, we put a song out called ‘Face Down,’ which was an anti-domestic violence song, which we then toured the country doing everything we could to raise awareness against domestic violence. So that was with song one. And then in 2025, we’re just still continuing that narrative of social justice: doing the right thing, treating women properly, as well as men. Just the mistreatment of others. We’ve broadened that. We’ve broadened that scope. Racism, homophobia—we try to touch on everything that we wanted to make sure our fans who are coming to our show know that we stand behind. And I think we did that. I really do.”

Ice Nine Kills Release Dark Homage To Batman ‘89

Ice Nine Kills has released their homage to Tim Burton’s Batman with their new single, “The Laugh Track”. Paired with a cinematic music video directed by Jensen Noen, the video features Matthew Lillard, Phil Morris, and Terry Kiser.

The Laugh Track

Matthew Lillard, known for his work in Scream, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and SLC Punk, is joining the Ice Nine Kills cinematic universe. Phil Morris, from Seinfeld, Smallville, and Doom Patrol, appears as well, along with the return of Terry Kiser, known for Weekend at Bernie’s and Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood. All of which appear in the band’s brand new video.

The song and video capture the dark theatricality, gothic ambience, and twisted humor of Burton’s Barman.

Frontman Spencer Charnas states, “Why be a brooding bat when you can have the last laugh? After all, Jack Nicholson got top billing in Batman ’89. While Michael Keaton’s haunted Bruce Wayne is outstanding, young Spencer was drawn more to the Clown Prince of Crime. ‘The Laugh Track’ is our homage to Tim Burton’s dark and gorgeous gothic Gotham. Batman ’89 took its comic book material seriously, but it was far from grounded, and never forgot to have fun. It’s the same tightrope we walk in Ice Nine Kills, with broad, maniacal smiles.”

He continues,“Terry Kiser returns in the video (although the rumors of Miles’ demise are exaggerated). And it brings a warm human smile to my face to introduce Matthew Lillard and Phil Morris to the INKverse. Like Prince before us, ‘The Laugh Track’ will have you dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight.”

The single follows the band’s Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs hit “The Great Unknown”, which was inspired by The Matrix. It also comes after “A Work of Art” from the highest-grossing unrated film to date, Terrifier 3.

Silver Scream Con & Horrorwood Reserve

Lillard previously appeared at Ice Nine Kills’ panel at Silver Scream Con, announcing his entry into the INKverse. Silver Scream Con 4 brought in around 13,000 music and horror fans to the DCU in Worcester. Ice Nine Kills’ headlining concert featured appearances from guests, including WWE superstar Rhea Ripley and Greg Nictero, director and producer of The Walking Dead.

While there, Lillard and the band gave insight into their collaboration with Horrorwood Reserve. They have created a blood-colored bourbon, issued in a detailed collector bottle from Lillard’s Macabre Spirits. It is made from Bloody Butcher corn and aged for five years in new American White Oak.

Boxed sets are available in two collectible limited-edition sets, Golden Age and Silver Scream. Both feature a bottle designed by Michael Cortada of Ice Nine Kills and cocktail recipe cards from Charnas and Lillard.

“Horrorwood Reserve is the liquid soundtrack to your favorite slasher flick,” says Charnas. “It tastes like suspense, danger, and the satisfaction of surviving until the credits roll.”

Perturbator Releases Highly Anticipated Age of Aquarius

French electronic body music (EBM) artist James Kent, known by Perturbator, has officially unveiled his highly anticipated sixth studio album, Age of Aquarius. This is his first release under the record label Nuclear Blast. The album can be streamed here, diving into the latest sonic landscapes crafted by the visionary producer.

Age of Aquarius follows the critically acclaimed Lustful Sacraments, an album that dove into the themes of bad habits and addiction. Age of Aquarius explored conflict, war, individualism, and the connection between them with its military-like focus on human aggression. It features elements from post-punk, goth, and techno, appealing to fans of industrial, metal, and new wave.

The album incorporates several featured artists, including Ulver on the opening track “Apocalypse Now”, Alcest’s Stephane Paut on the title track “Age of Aquarius”, Author and Punisher on “Venus”, and Greta Link on “Lady Moon”.

“Apocalypse Now” captures the album’s theme through its lyricism, framed by blasting synths and drums. Ulver delivers a captivating performance, singing lyrics as they read in the chorus, “Our hearts grow cold / Another war to end all wars again / Apocalypse Now! / There’s blood on the ground / We’ve got bullets for everyone.” The song is accompanied by a music video directed by David Fitt that features wartime imagery.

“Mos Ultima Ratio” was the fourth single released from the highly anticipated album, following “The Swimming Pool”, “Apocalypse Now”, and “The Art of War”. It is a high-intensity instrumental track that begins with a moody introduction that slowly builds. “This was inspired by industrial music and black metal. The title roughly translates to ‘Death is the final accounting,’” Kent explains.

The 10-minute title track concludes the album, featuring a single, simple lyric: “Do you see me?” The song progresses through various sections, heavenly vocals over a calmer yet slightly ominous instrumental, and builds to intense screaming layered over a higher-intensity track. “Age of Aquarius” features Alcest’s Stephane Paut, also known as Neige.

“The Swimming Pool” takes the listener on a journey through a beautiful instrumental piano ballad. The captivating piece has earned praise from Brooklyn Vegan, Metal Injection, Exclaim!, Metal Sucks, The PRP, New Noise, MXDWN, and more. “The Swimming Pool’ is a little moment of respite in an otherwise mostly aggressive album. It’s simple, minimalist, and intimate. Inspired by a dream I had years ago in which I found myself stuck in a huge hotel, searching ever so unsuccessfully for the swimming pool,” Kent explains.

“’The Art of War’ is the 6th track of the album and the most EBM sounding one. It’s about our propensity to make everything a spectacle and how we consume acts of violence as entertainment,” Kent stated. The song is paired with an  animated music video, depicting a war in a world where everything and everyone is made completely out of porcelain.

The album masterfully immerses the listener in a journey crafted around a military-like focus. It explores the multifaceted dimensions of conflict and human aggression while surrounding the listener with heavy synthesizers, pulsating basslines, and driving drums to create an atmosphere of relentless intensity and tension. Throughout the album are pockets of peace and calm, manifesting in specific sections of songs and the entirety of “The Swimming Pool”. The contrast between aggression and tranquility underscores the album’s themes.

Aftershock Draws Record-Breaking Crowd

This year’s aftershock has been described as “The biggest, most jaw-dropping Aftershock ever” – Kerrang. A record breaking number of people flooded Sacramento’s Discovery Park in order to see their favorite bands as they delivered unforgettable performances.

Aftershock is known for its memorable moments and has become a destination for rock fans across the world. This year fans from all 50 states and over 30 countries filled Sacramento’s Discovery Park.

However, this year set the record for the largest Aftershock in history. Over 164,000 fans gathered on the festival grounds to witness unforgettable performances, generating over $35 million in local economic impact.

Memorable Moments

The four days brought a total of 115 bands. On Thursday, Blink-182 delivered a nostalgia-driven set, featuring special guest Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio. The day also brought Good Charlotte, joined by Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley for “Fat Lip” and “In Too Deep”.

Friday was another monumental day. Deftones returned for a hometown show and performed on the 30th anniversary of their debut album, Adrenaline. Dream Theater also celebrated its 40th anniversary through their performance. Lamb of God performed a live debut of their song “Sepsis”, and frontman Randy Blythe joined Lacuna Coil for “Hosting the Shadow”. The Dillinger Escape Plan’s reunion made for another unforgettable Friday moment.

The following day featured Korn’s headlining set, which included a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne on “4 U”. It also marked their final tour date of 2025. Trivium added to the list of birthday bands, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Ascendancy with a full album performance.

GWAR’s 40th anniversary show took place on the final day of the festival. Sunday also featured Chimaira playing their first West Coast show in 11 years. The day was concluded by Bring Me The Horizon, with a stunning sci-fi set design.

Aftershock once again showed why it’s become the West Coast’s biggest hard rock and metal festival. Every year, the organizers seem to pull off something even bigger and better than the previous year, and with the rumors already starting to circulate about next year, it looks like the 2026 edition is not to be missed.” Said Consequence.

Danny Wimmer Presents Official Recognition 

Aside from the music, Danny Wimmer Presents received official recognition from the city of Sacramento, the California State Assembly, and the California State Senate. They were honored by Sacramento Mayor Kevin McCarthy, Senator Angelique Ashby, and Assemblymember Maggy Krell, in celebration of Aftershock’s decade-long legacy.

They recognized the cultural, economic, and charitable contributions to the Sacramento community, and more. 

“Aftershock is about more than just the music, it’s about sharing the experience with family and reliving memories from the bands they grew up with.” Stated KXTV ABC 10.

Dropkick Murphys Announce Tour

Dropkick Murphys are celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day weekend with tour dates in Boston. The weekend also counts for the band’s 30th birthday party.

They will be playing March 13, 14, and 15 at MGM Music Hall at Fenway and March 17 at Citizens House of Blues. March 14 also features a family-friendly afternoon event, including a mini concert and meet-and-greet at 2:00 p.m., also at MGM Music Hall at Fenway. Each adult attending can bring two kids under the age of 13 for free, and all profits will benefit The Claddagh Fund.

Tickets go on sale Friday, October 10, at 10:00 a.m. ET on the band’s website.

The Saint Patrick’s Day weekend dates will be part of their For The People… In The Pit Tour, with tour dates yet to be announced. Prior to this, the band kicks off their European fall headlining tour with Frank Turner and Haywire, starting on October 15 in Milan, Italy.

Ozzy Osbourne’s Last Rites Out October 7

If I’d done normal, sensible things, I wouldn’t be Ozzy. Look, if it ends tomorrow, I can’t complain. I’ve been all around the world. Seen a lot of things. I’ve done good… and I’ve done bad. Last Rites

Ozzy Osbourne’s influence is no secret; he was the godfather of metal, a multiple Grammy winner, and a two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee. But aside from music, he was also a New York Times Bestselling Author with his books I Am Ozzy and Trust Me, I’m Dr. Ozzy: Advice From Rocks Ultimate Survivor.

He felt that since the release of his first autobiography, I Am Ozzy, plenty of new life stories and memories had been created. He completed his second autobiography, Last Rites, just days before his passing in July. 

Last Rites is a brutally honest, shocking, funny, unfiltered, and life-affirming story of the past seven or so years of his life. It covers his life and career, his marriage with Sharon Osbourne, and what led him back to the stage for the Back To The Beginning final concert. Last Rites is a must-read, filled with never-before-told stories from the King of Darkness himself.

Q&A With Jack Osbourne

How did the idea for doing Last Rites come about?

JACK OSBOURNE (JACK): My father had been working on Last Rites for a very long time—chipping away at it over the last three or four years. He always felt he needed to do a follow-up to I Am Ozzy, because so much had happened in the 20 years since that book was released. From life after the TV show, to the Sabbath reunion, to releasing his last two albums, and finally his health issues. It was important to him to capture all of that.

Do you or other family members have favorites passages/anecdotes from the book?

JACK: If I’m being honest, not many of the family members have read the book yet—it’s been difficult time for everyone. For me, the last chapter is what I’ve reflected on the most. He finished it just a few days before he passed.

Throughout Last Rites Ozzy reflects on his early life with the insight gained as we grow older. Were there things that changed about him and the way he experienced the world towards the end of his life? 

JACK: There’s a lot to reflect on with that question. My father was always considered the “wild man of rock,” the “Prince of Darkness,” and so on, but the last seven years were the complete opposite. Because of his injuries and declining health, he slowed down. And sometimes with a curse comes a blessing. Slowing down gave him the space to really reflect on his journey—his successes, his failures, his joys, his sadness and ultimately, what mattered most to him. This book captures some of that.

Do you recall any moments or conversations with Ozzy as he was working on the book—funny, touching, surprising—about the material he wanted to include or stories about working with a writer on the project?

JACK: He was very private about the process and didn’t share much about what he was including. I’d try to ask, but he’d often brush it off. I’ve often said this about my father, he was the most humble egomaniac you could ever meet. He honestly didn’t think anyone would care about what he was writing in Last Rites. So when I asked him, he always downplayed it.

It’s so clear from reading Last Rites that Ozzy loved his fans. Is there anything that didn’t make it into the book that you’d like for them to know?

JACK: Here’s the truth—my father fought a very hard fight to get on that stage in Birmingham on July 5. He was determined to say goodbye to his fans, and that’s exactly what he did. He loved them deeply because they gave him the life he had. He always said he would have been nothing without their love and support. That last show was his way of giving back one final time.

What do you think Ozzy would like readers to take away from the book?

JACK: My father would want people to smile, laugh, and feel love when they read it. He absolutely hated when people felt sorry for him. I know some fans will get emotional—it’s hard not to—but he couldn’t stand when people cried in front of him or got sad around him. So enjoy his words. Feel his energy. Remember who he will always be. And never stop loving him.

Megadeth Unveil First Single Off 2026 Album

The iconic thrash staple band has released the first single off their upcoming album, which is said to be their final.

Tipping Point

The band released “Tipping Point” to the world today. The song begins with a riff that quickly transitions into a guitar solo before Dave Mustaine’s distinct and iconic voice breaks through. It was released through Tradecraft, Mustaine’s imprint, in partnership with Frontiers Label Group’s new BLKIIBLK label.

It is accompanied by a music video, which is desolate but hopeful. It is directed by Leonardo Liberti and features Mustaine trapped in an abandoned prison. He suffers through torture while the band performs in the same vicinity. While the music video is dark, Mustaine manages to escape at the end, running away from the prison.

“We all have different ‘tipping points’ and they may vary from day to day,” says Mustaine. “I think we’re all being pushed to the edge right now, and it’s easy to lean into that feeling. But it’s important not to let things get you down.”

Self-Titled

The band’s 2026 self-titled album is said to be their last after Mustaine’s alter ego, Vic Rattlehead, posted a statement. “For over four decades, I’ve been chained in silence, but the end demands my voice. It is confirmed that the next Megadeth studio album will be the last. Forty years of metal, forged in steel, ending in fire. And when the new year rises, the global farewell tour. You’ve heard the warning. Now prepare yourself, Cyber Army. Stay loud, stay tuned, and meet me on the frontlines.”

Mustaine stated, “There’s so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional, most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now. I have travelled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans, and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them.” He continues “We can’t wait for you to hear this album and see us on tour. If there was ever a perfect time for us to put out a new album, it’s now. If there was ever a perfect time to tour the world, it’s now. This is also a perfect time for us to tell you that it’s our last studio album. We’ve made a lot of friends over the years, and I hope to see all of you on our global farewell tour. Don’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years.”

Formed in 2021, Rocket — vocalist/bassist Alithea Tuttle, guitarists Baron Rinzler and Desi Scaglione, and drummer Cooper Ladomade — started in a humble shed, putting together songs that felt fully formed the moment they hit tape. Now, after years on the road opening for Ride, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Silversun Pickups, the band’s debut captures their evolution: jagged, fuzzed-out guitars, thunderous drums, and melodies that linger long after the last chord fades.

R is for Rocket moves between cathartic noise and melodic clarity, nodding to Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, and the anthemic ‘90s alt-rock that inspired them, while staking out its own distinctive territory. Standout tracks like “Wide Awake,” “Crossing Fingers,” and “Another Second Chance” showcase the band’s knack for marrying chaos with hooks that hit like lightning. The album also carries a deeply personal weight: it’s dedicated to Tuttle’s late father, whose image graces the cover, immortalized at the heart of the band’s first full-length statement.

The recording process matched the ambition. Scaglione produced the album, splitting sessions between the intimate vintage gear of Highland Park’s 64 Sound and the massive drum spaces at Foo Fighters’ Studio 606, balancing introspective textures with wide-screen alt-rock power. “Recording the second half of the album eight months after the first gave us a lot of time to think about what we were doing,” says Scaglione, while Tuttle credits touring with shaping the songs in real time.

Rocket hit the road this fall for their debut U.S. headline tour, including a special LA performance at Amoeba Hollywood on October 7, before heading overseas for a UK and European tour in early 2026. With R is for Rocket, the band have crafted a debut that’s both reverent to the past and bracingly fresh — a collection of jagged, hook-laden rock songs ready to stake their claim in the modern alt-rock canon.
