Post-Punk Australian band Radio Free Alice released a new single today called “Kick in the Shins”. The vocalist, Noah Learmonth, shared that “at its core, [Kick in the Shins] explores the feeling of being confused by the culture around you, and the isolation that often comes with that confusion.” Learmonth also shared that “‘Kick in the Shins’ is a fusion of two songs that never felt all the way complete. We loved the verse of one of them and the chorus of the other, and it worked when we combined the two.” The track was produced by familiar names, Ewan Pearson and Peter Katis. Pearson has worked with Depeche Mode and Franz Ferdinand, while Katis has worked with Interpol and The National. Radio Free Alice noted that they “wanted to create a song you could jump around to.” This is evident through the driving bass lines and energetic drums that are paired with hooky electric guitar riffs and rhythmic acoustic strumming. “Kick in the Shins” pulses with dramatic energy, dragging the listener along for a wild ride. Radio Free Alice has been busy with constant shows and releases this past year. “Kick in the Shins” follows Radio Free Alice’s debut single under Atlantic Records from last month called “Lunch Money” along with other recent releases within the past year, their EP Empty Worlds and their breakout single “Rule 31”. They have been playing summer festivals in Europe and the UK recently, including playing at Rock Werchter and Bilbao last weekend.
