One of the most exciting and unique artists right now has recently signed with Sumerian Records. Ando San, is a hybrid rapper, multi-instrumentalist, and producer based in LA and alongside his signing with Sumerian Records; he is releasing a double A-side single featuring two perfect examples of Ando San’s unique style. The two singles are “Hype Man” and “Triggas”.
“Hype Man” and “Triggas” both deal with different aspects of Ando San’s mental health. In regard to “Hype Man”, Ando San said this; “I named it ‘Hype Man’ because at the time of recording the song I needed to hype myself up. I’m usually alone in my room making these songs and this one in particular needed that energy!” He went on to say “I feel like you need to be your own personal Hype Man to get through things when you really don’t have anybody around to pump you up. It’s a super power!” Along with this Ando San was proud to lean on the inspirations of this song. “Honestly, when I was writing ‘Hype Man’ I was incredibly inspired by Darkthrone,” and continued on to say “I thought it would be cool to start the song with a black metal vibe and then lead into a heavy beat.”
“Triggas” continues on with the themes of mental health from Ando San but with a completely different approach. “Triggas” seems to be a much more personal song for Ando San with him saying “this song is about my triggers. I have a lot of trauma. I’ve been through many things in my life and one thing that has helped me get through those hard moments is recognizing my triggers.” He continues on sharing how triggers can hold people back including himself and how he has been working towards taking the power away from triggers by recognizing them when they start to show up and putting the effort into addressing them.
In regards to signing with Sumerian Records, Ando shared “I am incredibly stoked to be part of the Sumerian family. This is a huge moment for me, I have been a fan of this label since I was 15/16 years old and it’s honestly insane to say that I am now signed by them. It’s been a long time coming and this is only the beginning. I’m bringing the heat.”
It’s very exciting for such a unique and interesting artist to get the label support that they deserve. Both of these songs are hard hitting and an incredibly unique blend of multiple genres. Ando San is proving to deserve the hype that he has on the internet and is really pushing creativity and self-expression forward in a way that many artists are scared or unable to.
